Weigh in Results

Well I called it. I went to go weigh in and I was up from last week, but down from the start of the Awesome By August Challenge.

Last weight 293.4
Current weight 294.6
Gain of 1.2 pounds this week
Total Loss: 19.2

By the numbers, I am back to the weight I was in February. That has me really pissed off. I am disappointed in myself. Basically the last 5 months have been wasted, weight wise. I am learning more about myself and this journey so I do not feel that the last 5 months have been a complete waste of time, but I am just more disappointed that I didn't respect myself enough to keep the weight off or continue losing.

As if the Weight Watcher God's were speaking at me, the meeting topic was about identifying plateaus. I know I haven't hit a plateau, I just lost my focus (maybe I should post signs or something; check local lost and founds), but we talked about what we could do to focus on continuing to stay positive despite seeing smaller losses at the scales or plateaus. Although I've been gaining I'm still recognizing that I am making positive changes within me. Maybe I just have a hard time with all the changes, I need to slow down and focus on the good healthy habits I've already formed.

So I just might be going back to school, Weight Watchers 101. I think my July goal of tracking my food for a week straight will help me achieve this. I love the Weight Watchers iPhone app, another tool that I need to use more.

I'm looking forward to next week's topic of pushing past plateaus and how to stay focused on the long term goals, using short term goals (so that you don't loose focus). I'm going to try to focus on 5 pounds at a time, and just keep plugging away until I reach all of my goals.

Weigh In & #amerryworkoutpledge

Well I went to Weight Watchers and weighed in on Tuesday. After my 4 pound gain 2 weeks ago, I am happy to report that I've lose 3 of those pounds. My current weight is 290.2 and my total loss is 23.6.

I am excited that even after taking a week off, mind you my birthday week, that I've rebounded and I've got the scale going in the right direction. I am hoping to combat all the little gains I've had over the last month or so and really focus on hitting my 10% this month; which is 282.8. Which means I have a month to lose 7.8 pounds. If I can average 2 pounds per week, this will be easily accomplished.

I've made a decision to stick with Weight Watchers through the fall. I think that the meetings really help me, and the weigh-ins are good for me. I can't justify it away. The weight has to come off.

The reason I didn't post this sooner was that Tuesday night, I took my stepmother to the local drive in to see Eclipse. She is a "twihard", I on the other hand could care less, regardless, we both had a great time and she was so thrilled that I went. My dad was thrilled to as now he didn't have to go with her. I have to say, the movie is enjoyment, but I just don't get all the hype.

I also on Tuesday, I offered up my blog to host this month's installment of #amerryworkoutpledge. I first had said that it would be until 3pm, but at 3pm, I only had 3 comments, 2 of which were my own. So I extended until 8am the following morning and I posted on my facebook page for everyone to see. One of my friends picked right up and commented away, but still at the end of the day, only 17 comments! That would have translated to 7 minutes 30 seconds of cardio. Barely enough to get my heart rate in the zone. So I scrapped the whole thing and offered up that instead of it being 30 sec of cardio, that it will be 17 hours of working out this week.

Yesterday, I went horseback riding. Although I was only planning on being at the farm for an hour or two, I ended up being there the whole day, 9:30am to 5pm! My friend with the farm had many children over, so I helped out with barn chores. Basically, I got to play with animals all day. Included was chasing down the donkey who got out of his pen. I was running around all day, and today, I feel it. My legs and arms hurt. What a great feeling though! So I plan on counting that as 7 hours of cardio/working out. Only 10 more hours to go!

I do plan on hitting the gym tonight for another hour or so. And hopefully get some more time in throughout the weekend. It's the fourth of July and I'm scheduled to work this weekend. DBF is off to Rhode Island to visit with his best friend, I wish I could go with him, but sadly, someone has to work. Those phones don't answer themselves. I have a sneaky suspicion with how nice the forecast is, that the beaches will be packed this weekend. So while DBF is out of town and when (and if) I get some time off from work this weekend, I plan on putting some more hours in.

I hope if you are celebrating the fourth of July, that you celebrate responsibly! Wear sunscreen and stay hydrated!

How many hours a week do you commit to working out?

The weigh in that wasn't and looking ahead

Well I didn't weigh in "officially" yesterday, a friend of mine had a childcare issue and asked me to help out. Since I was off from work, I didn't mind helping out. But I wasn't able to weigh in like usual. But it's ok, I still have plans to formally weigh in this week.

However, I did weigh in at my home scale today 287.2. Given my slip up back into the 290's last week, this is movement in a positive direction. I feel like I have a better handle on the situation and I am more aware and present in my situation and my goals in this journey.

Today is also my birthday. I am 28 years old today. I also wanted to weigh in today, because I wanted to have a starting point for my goals for the next year.

I will not be 287 next year... nor will I be greater than. I want to get better and faster at running and better my times. I want to make more time for me.

I still have the goal when I turn 30 to go sky diving. I need to be under 250 if that goal is going to be attainable.

Will I indulge today, yes, it's a special occasion, and food is involved. I plan on having some Chinese food (my fav) and maybe a slice of ice cream cake. But I have NO intentions of eating to the point of puking like I have in the past. Today, is about practicing what I've learned and using it in a real world scenario. No more birthday celebrations that last all week, its about one day. Tomorrow life can resume to normal. In fact I am actually at work today, and there is a distinct possibility that I may get ordered in to stay tonight as well!

Every year I've always treated myself to something nice or bought a gift for my birthday, this year, I am giving myself the gift of health and the continued drive to be better and be the person I see on the inside.

Weigh-In Suckage

Wow... I knew the weigh-in was going to suck, but I didn't think it would suck that much....

I gained 4.2 pounds. Holy Moly... that was WAY too much of a weekend indulgence and not tracking. Now, in the last week of the friendly competition with DBF, I've got to bust my hump and loose at least 6 pounds to even come close to beating him, and that will take a small miracle.

I'm really upset with myself that I am letting myself down and fell off the wagon. I am the queen of excuses about why I gained weight (that time of the month, weighing in on a different day and time, etc.) but at the end of the day, it's about the choices I make. And obviously I didn't make any smart choices recently. I haven't been in control of my life and I haven't been focused on my healthy lifestyle changes.

At least I can now accept my choices that I did make, and move on, the past is in the past, I can only learn from my mistakes and move forward and learn to make better choices. I don't want to go back to the 313 I was before, I was miserable then. And I won't go back. Because I am in control of my destiny and I am not destined to be fat!

On that note, I cleaned the apartment today, and busted my hump, I was working up a sweat! I wanted to get to the gym, but it wasn't going to happen between all the cleaning and making it in time for weigh-in, so I made sure I got a good workout by cleaning. I was so happy to see that all my sweat and energy paid off in a nice and clean apartment.

Tomorrow, I am playing in my first ever golf tournament. Dad convinced me to join him to complete his foursome with a few of his retired friends. Should be fun. I've never played an actual game of golf in my life....should be interesting, at least funny!

Welcome to the bloggie world! It's cheaper than therapy! (And a weigh in)

Ashley over at Fattitude directed me to a new MALE (shock face!) weight loss blogger, Benny! Check out his page and welcome him to the world of weight loss blogging! (Disclaimer: my DBF's name is Ben, occasionally Benny, so I may be partial to his name! LOL)

For me, blogging is cheaper than therapy... it's free. I can rant about whatever I feel like it. If you lovely people don't want to read it, then don't but for me, it's out there. I like that I can look back on my victories when I am feeling down and when I am feeling down, you people really come through with some support. It's really fantastic.

Thank you all for always being there. I love the challenges and I love the virtual community. Twitter has really made a difference as well, makes everything immediate.

And now on with the show....

Start Weight: 313.8
Last Week's Weight: 283
This Week's Weight: 287.2
Loss/Gain: +4.2
Total Loss: -26.6

To be honest, I was anticipating this gain. With the gain, I still managed to loose about 2 pounds a week for the past 2 weeks which is right where I want to be. I am still on track for my 10% goal of 282.2; 5 pounds to go by the end of May.

I went to the doctor's on Monday and was given an antibotic for my sinus infection. It's a strong 10 day course. I am grateful that there is (hopefully) an end in sight to being sick. It's been two weeks as of yesterday and still no fun.

If you don't know, my job is a Fire/EMS emergency dispatcher. I talk for a living, basically. So being sick really sucks at work. Like yesterday, my lieutenant asked me if I had taken up smoking, because my voice had changed. I assured him that I was sick and not smoking (gross!). Thankfully I wasn't working in a few towns over where this incident was occuring. Although we did send an ambulance to help with other calls while units were tied up on scene. (If you follow me on twitter you may have seen me tweet a bunch with the #03801bomb hash tag yesterday)

So with said sinus infection, I haven't been able to run. See, when I ran and my feet would impact on the ground the top of my jaw/teeth would hurt. the infection of my sinus cavities is putting pressure on my jaw, and when jarring motions happen, pain is the result. Let's just say the Couch to 5K progress has turned into a Cough to 5K. However, once I am feeling better, I plan on resuming my plan. Which better hurry up! My 5K is less than a one away!

Weigh-In & #amerryworkoutpledge

Starting weight: 313.8
Last week's weight: 291.6
This week's weight: 283.0
Loss: -8.6

Total loss: -30.8

Wow... honestly, I don't know where this came from. I was anticipating a loss, being sick and all... I haven't been eating much. I am feeling better, but still not 100% and for those of you counting this is day 6... I should be all better by now :-(

So I'm now 0.2 pounds away from my 10% goal. I would like to maintain it for a week before collecting my 10% keychain.

Really? I'm happy (super excited) about losing this weight. But I am having doubts, I mean that is an absurd amount of weight to loose in one week. Like Biggest Loser type numbers we are talking about. Do I think I can sustain and possibly loose more next week? I am going to try, but I am doubtful. That is the most amount of weight I have lost in a single week. Something is off, whether it was being sick or not eating enough, I just feel a rebound coming next week.

Don't get me wrong, I am excited about my loss, to finally see the scale going in the right direction, but I am looking for long lasting weight loss, not the dramatic short term stuff...

I did manage to go to Zumba last night. I am finding that the ab work is coming a bit easier to me and I can do the exercise longer, I am happy about that. I did bring a box of tissues with me to Zumba, my friends thought I was crazy, but I really wanted to go and at least move a little, since I haven't done anything exercise/fitness related in almost a week! The bondi band held well and I am working on a review post. (Side note, I will never be a fitness model, the pictures of me are horrible!)

Logging onto twitter this morning I see that Steve, Kat Kerri and Mary are at it again! With there #amerryworkoutpledge (twitter hashtag). Go over to Steve's post and comment. For every comment between now and 4pm (Eastern Standard Time) will be 30 sec added to a cardio workout. Since I can't work out today, I am electing to do my pledge Friday day. How long will you make me work out Friday day ;-)

Weekly Weigh-In

So I am into the part of my work schedule where I am working during my usual weigh-in day/time. So typically I have to weigh in at either another location or another time. Le sigh, it just really screws with my schedule, but I should get used to this, my schedule isn't changing anytime soon.

Starting Weight: 313.8
Last Week's Weight: 291
This Week's Weight: 291.6
Loss/Gain: +0.6
Total Loss since starting: -22.2

After writing my last post about my hitting my 10% goal, I thought I would be better motivated. Better just make it 8.8 pounds to lose in the next 5 weeks. I think it was my body's way of saying we can meet/beat that challenge! (right?)

Also, in the post, I had said my doctor wanted follow up lab work done next month. Well she mailed me the lab slip, and it said to have it drawn ASAP.. so I guess I won't get to wait till May. But I am still down 20+ pounds, that should account for something.

Inspired partly by Kat's post about Weights are for Girls, I went to the gym today and busted out some reps on the weight machines. Tried to do a combination of arms, chest, legs. Weight training is an important part of exercise, besides, I have some good muscles from carrying around all this fat for years, now that I am lighter, I need to work those muscles more to make up the difference.

Afterwards, I went home and started a couch to 5k, week 2 day 1 session for a bit of cardio. I have to admit there were 2 run sessions, were I could only make it running for about 30-45 seconds (instead of the full minute).

Oh and did I mention that I woke up yesterday and today with a sore throat and a froggy voice? I am so zexy...

Progress

This week has been so screwed up, not being able to weigh in on my usual day (Tuesday) due to have to work and then making plans to do it yesterday or later on today and ended up getting called into work early. Don't get me wrong, I love the overtime (and so do my bills!) but really, the job is what hinders my efforts.

I had also wanted to get a couch to 5k session in today, but that didn't happen. I just ran out of time... or just out of time, since I didn't get to run. (Bad attempt at a joke!)

Regardless, I did manage to weigh in this morning, granted I wasn't really prepared for it, but I went and did it. Since starting this journey I have never missed a weigh in week. I've missed meetings, but I ALWAYS weigh in. Anywho, I had no idea what to expect at the scale. I haven't really been present with my eating habits and my exercise has been screwy again due to work. Imagine my surprise when I was down .2 pounds. FINALLY, the scale is moving in the right direction! I still have a lot of ground to make up from my massive gains - but I think that even this little .2 loss is going to be the kick start that I needed to regain some focus.

This weekend is the NH Emergency Dispatcher Association Conference, in beautiful Laconia, right on the lake, this conference makes my job sound professional! LOL. I am really excited about learning new techniques and hot button topics, I am really looking forward to learning more about becoming a tactical dispatcher. Eventually sign up for the state TERT program and FEMA to assist in times of great need / disasters. I am hoping to at least get a walk in while attending the conference!

Any plans for the weekend?

Weigh In Results

Starting Weight: 313.8
Last Week's Weight: 287.8
Current Weight: 291.2

Week reults: +3.4
Total Loss: -22.6

To be honest, I don't know what happened. I always hop on my scale at home, just before I walk out the door, so I can have a ball park figure. Now, when I hopped on, it was right about where I was last week. So to be honest, I was expecting a small gain, loss or to stay the same, but a THREE POUND GAIN! I just wasn't prepared for that. To say I was shocked, is an understatement. I mean I guess it could happen. My schedule was all f*ed up due to overtime at work and being sore for 2 days after my c25k session and Zumba in the same day, that probably wasn't the smartest move I could have made. I also wasn't tracking as well as I should have been, I probably either wasn't eating enough or eating too much (read: Easter Sunday).

So this week, I am going to track my foods/points. I also have my workout schedule for the rest of the week. I plan on c25k w1d2 session tomorrow at the gym, with maybe some weight work afterwards. Zumba Thursday night, and a horseback ride Friday afternoon. Rest day Saturday, and Sunday do c25k w1d3 session. That is the plan, hopefully I can stick with it.

Also my DBF and I entered into an agreement, between now and my birthday (June 23) we will have a weight loss competition, whoever has the highest percentage loss gets to pick the destination for a weekend getaway that the other (loser) must pay for and plan... mini-vacations motivate me (especially when I get time alone with the DBF) but money motivates me even more... Let's just say, I don't plan on paying. I think this is the kick in the ass that we both need.

At the meeting, Weight Watchers announced their Walk-It Challenge. Also included was their training plan, basically on June 6th they are encouraging their members to challenge themselves to walk in a 5K (either a WW event or one of their own). June 6th just happens to be the day of the Smuttynose 5K that I entered to be in. What are the odds? Even more motivation for me! This was meant to be! When said 5K is completed the WW member gets a charm to add to their 10% keychain... you know that keychain I DON'T have... boo. 31 pounds is my 10% goal and I am at 22. I am hoping to hit at least my 10% by my birthday. I already have 2 charms for my keychain... Now I want my 10% and my damn keychain. At the meeting we talked about how we need motivation, a freaking keychain is what is motivating me right now... lol.

What motivates you to loose weight? Obviously, to be healthier and feel better about yourself, but what else? Do you set mini-goals & rewards?

Checking In...

I haven't posted my progress in awhile. Lately I've been doing okay with a steady loss. However today was not such the case.

I gained, 4.6 pounds.
Current Weight: 292.4 pounds
Total weight loss 21.4 pounds

Frankly, I am embarrassed. This past week was miserable. I was so unfocused. I anticipated a gain, but really, that is just completely out of control. I got my 3 exercise session in, however, they were all stacked one day right after the other (gym on Sunday, walk on Monday, Zumba on Tuesday and horseback riding on Wednesday).

I am sure it didn't help that I worked a 48 hour shift just prior to weighing in. Practically chained to a desk, I don't get many opportunities to move about. One of the pitfalls of my job. Not that it is an excuse, but I do feel the need to acknowledge outside forces that can work against me. I usually plan for long shifts, I have "supplies" at work, but my supplies were low and originally, it was only a 24 hour shift, not 48... and it happens.

But I went for the meeting and I sat there. I knew exactly why I had gained, I was unfocused, I ate what I wanted, I didn't properly exercise and space things out. It just goes to show you how quickly one can sink back into old habits. Its comfortable to fall back into old habits. But if we always do what we always did, we will always get what we already have.... that is my mantra, I don't want to be the fat girl, I want better for my life....I will be better.

So after the meeting, I got my errands done and then I called my dad and we both went to the gym. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical. It felt good to get back in the gym after a week off. I didn't want to overdue it since I had Zumba tonight.

I love my Zumba, I am so glad that my girls included me in their fun. By no means am I an expert, but I sweat my fat ass and I smile through it... I laugh and have fun, while getting a workout in. Its amazing.

I did think that I over did it with the elliptical and the Zumba, my legs are hurting and I have a bit of knee pain, so I am going to take some Aspirin tonight. I hope I didn't do too much damage! I plan on taking tomorrow off from the gym (but a girl friend of mine and I plan on going for a walk at the beach) and then gym on Thursday and possibly a horseback ride in on Friday (depending on the weather).

I can and will be better. My gain will motivate me to do and be better and kick ass this week!

Zumba!

After my weigh-in today (down .8) I went and voted (hope those of you who can, did!) and then it was off to Zumba, which was so much fun! I was nervous, but excited, I have never done a class, and I know that I am getting in shape, but no where near it.... so of course I took a spot in the back of the class. Of course I went with some girlfriends, we had a blast.

I was smiling the whole time, it was a great workout. I have no coordination to speak of, and I just went with it. I am sure I looked like a hot mess, but I had fun and I plan on going again. It was great to see the skinnies even sweating... you know it was a good class....

I am really happy that I am finding different avenues to work out and just move more. I am stepping outside of my comfort zone, and I am ok doing it :-D

I heard a great quote from the radio the other day, Life is for the living... and I kinda love that statement... I haven't been living the life I wanted to lately... and I feel like a light has been turned on and I am seeing things in a different perspective.

Weigh-In

With all the craziness this week with my work, I really anticipated a gain at the scale. Since Thursday and Friday were a washout, I made sure I went to the gym on Sunday (and on Monday). I am close to being able to cross of an item on my 101 things in a 1001 days list... the dreaded gym 3 times a week for 2 months... I am one gym date away from completing that task, and I have a gym date tonight.... so excited to be crossing things off my list!

Well we had a large fire at work, it even made national news... (crazy) A block of Hampton Beach burned down, including my beloved Happy Hampton Arcade. That arcade was my first real job, I loved working there. I met so many wonderful people and obviously I've stayed in touch with the owner (who lived above the arcade), thankfully he made it out safely, but not only is his business gone, but his home as well.

This summer won't be the same without the arcade, but several other businesses were also lost in the fire. With the hurricane force winds the nasty weather really helped this fire grow and quickly. The whole night was just crazy. My station lost power, the generator that is nearly twice my age failed (shocker) so I had to leave the station and go to our Station 2 to run dispatch. So all my safe food was left at my office in the station. I went to Station 2 with nothing and was stuck there for about 20 hours. So I had to eat what was brought to me... so donuts and pizza. Ugh! I thought for sure I was going to be up at the scale. But when I got home, I focused on my goal, and my goal for the week became to have a small gain, but ideally maintain for the week.

To my suprise, I had lost .4!  It really goes to show you what daily recommitment can do for you. Don't focus on the daunting task of weight loss as a whole. Focus on the day to day... Recommit each morning to make the best choices for you possible. I am down to 288 pounds and a total loss of 25.8 pounds since starting Weight Watchers in mid October.

WW Weigh-In

So I was really shocked by the results, but I am down 2 whole pounds! I am at 291 even. Total weight loss since starting, 22.8.

There was a noticeable difference in the meeting though. 2 weeks ago the room was full, maybe 2 or 3 empty seats, tonight, there were 6 people in the room... I am hoping that its an off-week for some, but I am sure its more the New Year's resolution drop off, which is a shame if so, its so early in the new year.

Last week they talked about making time for yourself. Which if anyone knows me - is a struggle. Really enjoying myself this weekend was my time. I really am trying to be more conscious and make more time for me.

I hope the Loser Moms weigh-in is just as fruitful!

Refocus!

Lately I've been so focused on giveaways, that I haven't really been focused on my weight loss. Now granted, this is only in terms of my blogging. I am still actively doing WW and working out.

At my weigh in this week (I had to weigh-in on Tuesday rather than Monday, since I was at work for 24 hours) I maintained. So I am still at 293.0 - Which means that so long as I at least maintain this week I get my iPhone! Obviously, I'd rather keep loosing. But my concerns are that any time I have a 'big' loss (usually greater than 3 pounds) that I have a bounce back gain the next week or two. So that is my fear currently.

However, when I weighed in Wednesday afternoon for the Loser Moms contest, I was down to 291.6. Now granted, I weigh in on my home scale, so there is a difference between the WW scale and my home scale.

I am working on a few tasks from my day zero list - obviously the easy ones are the losing weight (easy for me right now, since I am very weight loss motivated), the working out 3 times a week for 2 months straight, the other one I am focused on right now is the trying a new recipe each week for 1 month. 2 weeks ago we had rib night, last week we had the WW lasgana and I don't know what I am going to try this week. With it being Valentine's day this weekend and since I've been working so much - I thought about possibly doing a twist on bread pudding - and making it like french toast style for breakfast one morning... I saw a great recipe in Cosmo a few months ago by Katie Lee, that I would love to try! It requires some planning and prep on my part. Should be interesting.

I'm still in a great mood. Things have been going really wonderful for me, personally. I am happy about the changes that I am making in my life, all positive. I feel like I am moving in a great direction. I hope I can keep this feeling and motivation for awhile!

Weigh-In

So I've been doing Weight Watchers for 12 weeks now. I am down a total of 18.8 pounds. Its taken me 3 months to lose almost 19 pounds. While its great that I am losing weight, its just frustrating that its taking so long.... I guess I am impatient. but I have to keep telling myself that Rome wasn't built in a day.

I am kicking it up a notch by joining Planet Fitness. I went again today. Riding a gym high after I left. I ran into one of my college friends and caught up with him, which was nice. Perhaps I'll see him around the gym more.

I am focused on the small goals, I can't look at the big picture right now, its too far away. But first was my 5% goal, which I hit last week, now I am looking forward to 20 pounds lost (I will be rewarding myself with an iPhone) and then my 10% goal. Then once I hit my 10% goal, I'll set some new small goals.

Rome wasn't built in a day....
