Tomorrow I am competing in a weight loss challenge, this one is for money. I could really use the extra cash for the wedding/honeymoon, and extra motivation to look my best on my big day! This competition is only for 5 weeks, but I am hoping that the routine and enthusiasm can carry me through to my wedding.
I am still working on my Awesome by August challenge, and it's really been a challenge, and I've been letting the excuses get to me. My Strong for 23 calender isn't looking so good for the month of July, I've been letting the heat and humid be my excuse.
No more, I have a gym membership for a reason... I have goals that I am looking to accomplish, my 5K with Creating Kayla is a little over a month and a half away and I am STUCK on week 2 of couch to 5K training... I haven't moved off week 2 since restarting the program a month ago. Although I am doing well on week 2, it's not getting any easier, and I don't feel like I can move on to week 3. I need to be more consistent and get my training runs in (3 times a week) and start moving back up in the progression.
Tomorrow it begins, it's a new day... and I will succeed!

The Beginning(ish)
Happy New Year folks! I hope you all are recovering nicely from your NYE activities. I surprised myself and went to the gym NYE morning. Was really thrilled about that. You know, they gym actually had a lot of people in there, perhaps everyone was working out in advance of their partying to be done later on that night.
I worked New Year's Eve, I had to work New Year's Day, and I would of had to have been up early, so why not work the night before and make a little extra money. H2B came down to my work and we had some delicious Chinese food and enjoyed one another's company until the ball dropped. Then we shared our first kiss of the new year, and off towards home he went. It was special, I was so happy that he was willing to do that.
I didn't make it to the gym yesterday, once I got out of work (6:15pm), H2B and I headed towards his mom's, she had cooked us a big delicious meal. You never go hungry at her house, or if you do it's your own fault! After chatting for a bit, we headed for home. Not only did I have to be up early for work today, but we also had to still weigh in for our next weight loss challenge. This time, it's between ourselves and another couple. But instead of teaming up as couples, we decided boys versus girls...
Well needless to say, I was SO happy that I weighed in for our last weight loss challenge yesterday, I was down to 296.3. When I weighed in for this new challenge last night it was 306.2!! Now, I know that's mostly due to water weight, and having JUST eaten dinner. So perhaps my numbers were "padded" a bit, but darn, that is just crazy! Thankfully the other couple weighed in late at night too, so it didn't look like Ben and I were trying to throw the challenge. Another good reason, Ben and I are on opposite teams, so we can keep each other honest.
So yes, I am starting out 2011 weighing in at 306.2. I don't intend on finishing out 2011 anywhere near that number...
I am working again today, but I did bring gym clothes, and I do plan on going to the gym tonight after work. I should be getting out around 5:45pm. The one bummer is that my gym closes at 7pm on Saturday and Sunday, but open 24 hours the rest of the week. And I will have workout #1 in the books for Al's Strong for 23 in 2011 challenge.
I am excited for this challenge, I want to build healthy habits and making myself and the gym is a top priority.. after all, it won't be too long till the wedding....Holy Cow, I am getting married this year! Buff Bride time...

Recap
One more thing to recap, the weight loss challenge between H2B and myself. Beginning back on September 7th (after we got back from our vacation) and ending today, the person with the highest percentage loss wins. Well H2B and I have both been gaining and losing the same 7 pounds, so it was a toss up if anyone would actually win...
Wouldn't you know, I WON! with a loss of 0.4 pounds. Trust me I am thrilled, this is the encouragement boost I needed.
So H2B will be treating to a weekend away. First, it was to Boston, but since H2B's best friend (and Best Man) and his wife live near Providence, RI, I thought it would be great to get a hotel down there, and get to spend some time with them. H2B said that was fine with him, I am so thrilled! Ya-hoo!! Mini-Vacation for this chica! So excited.
And now that challenge is over, another couple has issued a challenge. Only this time it's girls against boys, losing gender treats the winning gender to a day of their choosing. The girls, we want a spa day... the boys, want to go play paintball (I'm sure we'd have to do something else too, since a spa day is a lot of money and I am sure paintball isn't really equal). This challenge will be the same, highest weight loss percentage. And will go for 3 months from 1/1/11 to 4/1/11. I'm energized for this new challenge coming off a fantastic win.
All in all these little challenges are great motivators for me. And in the end, it only benefits everyone who is participating. Because at the very least, it makes us more aware of what we are doing to our bodies.
